While bad live-action anime adaptations are far from abnormal, Netflix's Death Note was plagued by a few problems that could have been avoided if the team behind the film adhered closer to the source material. Currently, it is unclear if Wingard will return to direct the film. Though Netflix never released official numbers for Death Note, the company's CCO Ted Sarandos said the film's success was "sizeable."
